Senator Chuck Grassley will not preside over Congress' counting of the Electoral College's votes
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) won’t be presiding over Congress’ counting of the Electoral College’s votes for president of the United States (POTUS) and vice president of the United States (VEEP).
Ol’ Grassley there had folks thinking that Mike Pence was putting his duties off on him and skipping town all because he didn’t want to face the wrath of Donald John Trump Sr, who doesn’t understand that the 12th Amendment makes the vice president powerless to change a presidential election whereby the people have clearly picked a winner. “-if the Vice President isn’t there and we don’t expect him to be there, I will be presiding over the Senate. Obviously listening to the debate without saying anything,” is what the folks over at The Hill quoted from a transcript obtained from Senator Chuck Grassley’s office.
The folks over at The Hill managed to catch up with one of the senator’s spokespersons who made it clear that the senator has no doubt that the VEEP “will be present on the hill Wednesday.”
In his role as the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Senator Chuck Grassley would’ve stepped in for Mike Pence, who is the president of the Senate, if Mike Pence had taken the first train smokin’ out of town. But, he didn’t. Mike Pence grew some peaches and told Donald John Trump Sr., that the 12th Amendment doesn’t give the vice president the power to make the president a king.
And knowing Donald Trump, he then turned around and asked Mike Pence, “Who has the fuckin’ power then, if you don’t Mike?!” Mike Pence, of course, would have told him that no one has the power to make him a king due to the fact that the 12th Amendment gives Congress a ceremonial role in certifying the Electoral College's votes whenever a majority of the people have choosing a new POTUS and VEEP.
And the last time I checked, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris received 306 electoral votes to Donald John Trump Sr. and Mike Pence’s 232.
Sooo, yeah. Oh well, sucks for Donald John!
